My first Paid cake :)

A lady from my fitness center asked me to make a cake with Sonic the Hedgehog on it for her son's 15th Birthday. This is how it turned out, NOT TOO SHABBY!!!! (Insert ear to ear smile). Its 2 8 inch yellow butter cakes with vanilla frosting and filling, with yellow candy melts on the sides. I hand molded Sonic from MM Fondant and Gum paste, i semi copied a cake some one had made with the exact same Sonic from cakecentral.com
I deliver it tomorrow morning, I'm looking forward to seeing what she thinks when she sees it, i hope very happy :)

Hubby bought me 50 cake boxes and made me an excel page with all the ingredients for all the recipes i have to calculate the costs of each cake i make. He is sooooo awesome and supportive, makes this sweet journey all the more sweeter.

The Happy "Bird'day" Cake

My friend is giving her 5 year old daughter a Bird themed Birthday party this Saturday, and i asked if i could make the cake. I looked all over the internet to see cakes with Birds on them but couldn't find any that i liked, so i was and still most likely am going to make an Enchanted Tree Cake, as it has 2 blue birds in a nest at the top of the tree. It's from Debbie Brown's book "Enchanted Cakes for Children" i bought it and it get's here Thursday, si i will see how hard it is and decide wether to do it or not.

I did how ever make this extra cute, cute, cute did i say how cute it is Love Birds Cake. I have a Sugar Motifes Bible for cake decorating book, and it had a picture of 2 tiny blue love birds, so i took the idea and ran with it, it turned out agan SUPER CUTE :-)

Not bad for my 3rd Fondant cake i think.

I will sign off for now, i am baked and decorated out for today.

My Fondant class Cake

What fun! We covered a cake with Fondant in Class last night, i made a very dense and moist Carrot/pineapple cake with whipped orange butter cream filling and under-coating. In class I covered the cake in Pink Fondant and made the lavender drape, i did make a handkerchief but didnt like it so took it off when i got home. You can see where i took it off but because of the flowers and hearts all over it your eyes doesn't really draw to it.

When i got home and went to bed all i could dream about was finishing the cake, so at 2:30am i dragged my butt out of bed and went and made the flowers and leaves, then went back to bed at 4:30am then got out of bed again at 8am and finished it. I had some clear sparkle cake gel so i painted all the decorations with it. It made it look awesome if i say so my self. My Oh SO Flattering friend calls me the Cake decorating Diva or Queen, yeah i can live with that title i think :-) and i better keep her around so she can keep the compliments coming, i like an inflated ego, its an independent proud Spanish women thing.

What makes or breaks a Bunny Cake Pop baking project ??

The answer, drum roll please............. READING THE INSTRUCTIONS, or in my case being an idiot and NOT READING THEM. In my very crappy defense and i do mean crappy, i thought to my self "cake on a stick how hard can it, i mean i make awesome Shish-Kabobs ".
Now i am hearing Martha Stewart in my head saying "Baking is a science, careful measuring, careful instruction". Inner Martha Bugger Off you know it all kitchen queen!! Now because i have become wise (just a few minutes ago) in all things Bunny Cake Pops, i will attempt to redeem myself from today's ending result my Demented Blob Bunnies (pictured above), to make ones that look half decent and actually stay on the stick, hehehehe : ) Even though they look scary and you think if you ate one it would gnaw its way out of your body, my husband said they tasted awesome but now he feels sick because he ate tooooo many and they are Very, Very sweet, so just one of my Demented Blobs (because they are huge) is more than enough. I will make them much smaller tomorrow. Till then Happy Making, Baking and Decorating!
